This article doesn't distinguish stereotypical gender roles imposed by society from gender identification that falls outside of the male/female gender binary.
Boys who like dolls and girls who like football fall outside of the expectations of societally imposed gender roles, but they may not actually identify with a gender that falls outside of the male/female binary.
