I don´t think that RMS should be forgived because of his status in the community either, it´s just that there isn´t much to forgive for; the real issue is that women lay far behind in emacs and other software use, and computer literacy in general, and that should give much trouble and concern, especially when there isn´t any reason that justifies it - if we ignore an education system that push girls to the 'gender lock', anyway. RMS was just pointing that, maybe in a somewhat clumsy way, but he got the point. Let's not distract our minds with pseudo-virginity matters that add very little to the discussion.

Should we also alter the denomination of the LinuxChix convention, because 'chix' maybe interpreted as a sexiest reference? if so, i must reprehend myself for tagging women related issues with 'chix' in delicious; get real or get lost, said i in my own clumsy way - my upfront apologies for that to the 'virgin' offendee.

"Lefty" and the "David Schlesinger" mentioned in the first para are the same individual. Which name should we use for him? We're inadvertently making him sound like two people. Thayvian 21:03, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

For what it's worth, he introduces himself in person as "Lefty" Mdz 21:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

I didn't have a strong opinion either way (other than that we should clarify that the person who made the "significant disappointment" entry and who emailed Richard was the same person). I've replaced his legal name with "Lefty" given Mdz's comment. Thayvian 22:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Opinions

The discussion here (excerpt: "... You're talking about the crime so much, that you make me afraid of the penalty. You want him ostracized from the free software community?") is a 101 discussion and has been moved to User talk:64.246.121.114 Thayvian 10:16, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

The religious argument, and the mess we're in

The discussion here (excerpt: "... I suspect that the religious complaint probably also devalued the sexism complaints it was attached to, even when they were re-iterated. The person e-mailing has an axe to grind against the entire skit - why should RMS take his complaints about sexism seriously?") is a 101 discussion and has been moved to User talk:MakoMK Thayvian 10:29, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

So much fuss for so little

I think women should devote their energies to relevant issues/causes in the feminism struggle which i think is about liberty and freedom, as in free software, and not waste time with this nonsense.
