Alex Bayley, best known as as Skud in online and technology circles, has been an open source developer, advocate, and community manager. She has been active in the Linux, Perl, and Freebase communities and a number of other projects, and is presently leading the Save Australian Music Project. She described herself as having moved from open source to "open stuff".[1]

Speaking

Skud has spoken at a number of conferences on subjects including Perl, Linux, open data, community management, and women in open source.

Technical

Skud is the author or maintainer of over a dozen Perl modules, including WWW::Automate, the foundation for the very popular WWW::Mechanize. She is the founder of Melbourne.pm and the originator of the Perl Survey.

Skud worked on open data and open source projects for Freebase, and was employed by Metaweb and subsequently Google as the Freebase community manager for three years.

In 2011, she founded the Save Australian Music project.
