"Kyriarchy" is a concept named by feminist theologian Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza that refers to social structures based on domination and coercion. "Kyriarchy" is strictly more general than "patriarchy", and using it is one way of recognizing that gender is not the only axis along which people can abuse their power over others.
