Honeywell's Law was coined by Leigh Honeywell on Twitter in June 2013 at AdaCamp, and reads:

There are enough women at a conference when you can't remember all the names of the ones you met because there were so many.

Unicorn syndrome[]

At technical and open source conferences, often women and people of color are in the minority. If they see another person like them it is likely they already know that person. It is rare, and pleasant, for us to be in a context where we meet other women who we don't already know. If you are for example a black woman in tech or latina woman in tech in the U.S. you may feel that you know every other black or latina woman likely to be at a tech conference. If there are women you don't already know or haven't even heard of that is a joyous experience and means it is a good conference!
