Amber Graner joined the Ubuntu community in early 2009, blogging her experiences as a new Ubuntu user. She wanted to put Ubuntu's "Linux for Human Beings" slogan to the test. That meant ignoring her live-in kernel hacker and using the same support routes every other user has, such as the forums and IRC. She was quickly pointed to the Ubuntu Women group and became active there.
In January 2010, the Ubuntu Community Council appointed her leader of the Ubuntu Women Project for a 6-month term[1]. In April 2010 she became the chief editor for Ubuntu Weekly News[2].
Amber conducts interviews and writes articles for both Ubuntu User Magazine and for her You in Ubuntu blog on Ubuntu User's website.
She organized UbuCons at both Atlanta LinuxFest and Southeast LinuxFest. Additionally, she presented at Texas LinuxFest and Southeast LinuxFest in 2010.
She is also the technical reviewer for The Official Ubuntu Book , 5th Edition, and Co-Author of the 6th and 7th Editions.
Amber was hired in Novemeber 2011 to be the User Experience and Community Specialist for Linaro, Ltd.
In 2012 Amber spoke at SCALE10x giving talks on Mentoring Moments, an UPSCALE talk 0-Geek in 3 years , and even spoke even gave an Introduction to Community talk during the Beginning Linux Session. Amber also opened the Indiana LinuxFest as the Keynote speaker with Linux on Arm: The Next Revolution
